obama has done that -- and he has reserved the right at the end of the date for the united states foto use force, but he is putting that off for diplomacy. i worked with president george w. bush and secretary of state condoleezza rice on the iran issue for three years. there is a remarkable similarity between the george w. bush policy on iran and barack obama policy. i get the sense in my discussions with senators and congressmen and women on capitol hill that there is a basic bipartisan support for this policy that the last two american presidents have undertaken. we don't want to go to war right now, we don't want to open up the possibility of a third land war in the middle east after iraq and afghanistan. we want to focus on obama's because that is -- we want to focus on diplomacy because that is sensible. last point i will make this we have not had a sustained, substantive conversation with the iranian government since the jimmy carter administration, way back in 1979, 1980. to is in our interest not t talk to them, not because we like that government, but we want to see this resol

the country back on the right track? >> yeah! >> after four years the recovery that president obama promised is nowhere in sight. he said if he just could borrow a bunch of money and spend it on his friends unemployment would never get above 8%. it has been above 8% for 43 months. we had 23 million americans struggling to find work, 15% of our fellow countrymen and women are in poverty today. president obama, the economy is barely growing, he's run out of ideas and just the other day on tv he said that he can't change washington from the inside. why do we send presidents to washington in the first place? isn't that what we are supposed to do? don't we send them with a message to washington? if he can't change washington we need to change presidents and we need to elect this man the next president of the united states. the choice before us is very clear. we are offering real reforms for a real recovery. we cannot afford four more years of president obama's failed policies. what mitt romney is offering, what we are saying is, here are big ideas, big solutions, that are designed to get people b

the years before obama. no regulations on wall street. it's very worrisome. i think obama is doing the right thing trying to regulate especially on wall street, because wall street is a funding tunnel of getting money out of this country and not taxing the rich. host: money is in oklahoma, republican. good morning. caller: the man before me was just on the talking points of the democrats. the vice-president does not make a difference to me. but the president does. when this man obama gets in there again, people are going to suffer. hen hea terrible thing wen wants us to be a third world country and the like all the rest of the countries. we're not like all the rest of the country's. we fought not to be like all the rest of the countries. the polls are skewed. they did not ask me. there are plenty of other people they did not ask either. so there are plenty of people who will vote for romney. he will be surprised when that day comes. host: thanks for calling. lots of financial stories in the papers today. the front page of the new york times this morning has the story about the payroll tax. t

. -- gentleman over there. right there. >> when you said president obama hould say, and attac attack on israel would result, an attack on america and america would respond, is that already not too late? said the attack the on iran before they develop the capability to attack? >> this is not a "gotcha" situation. the president has already said we will not permit iran to get the nuclear bomb. he said that. hold it. what i am saying is that was clear -- that is what he has said. the united states will decide for itself when it is appropriate to stop them. israel has a different point of view. the united states has a different point of view. what i have said is totally different than that. and just as important. >> truly, the last question. this woman. i will have to get both of you. [laughter] two more. these two women. that one and that one. >> one thing is true. the people who come to this conference are motivated. nobody is some of that was created by our esteemed guests. >> what is congress doing? i am petrified president obama .ill be reelected des what can congress do to rein in some of the

it. we have five minutes. we can negotiate a deal right here. do you favor the plan, senator obama? senator mccain, are you in favor of this plan? >> we have not seen the language yet. i think there is constructive work being done out there for the viewers who are watching. i am optimistic. the question i think we need to ask ourselves is how did we get into this situation in the first place? two years ago, i warned that because of the relaxed regulation, we would potentially have a problem in trying to stop the abuses and mortgages that were taking place at the time. last year, i wrote to the secretary of treasury to make sure he understood the magnitude of this problem and to call on him to bring all the stakeholders together to try to deal with it. the question i think we have to ask ourselves is yes we have to solve this problem short term. we will have to intervene. there is no doubt about it. but we will also have to look at how is it that we have shredded so many regulations, we did not set up a 21st century regulatory framework to deal with these problems, and that is in pa

for ronald reagan. is there a way -- are you doing anything to get into the race cycle with obama and romney? host: what do you say? we had a similar question from twitter. guest: right now i'm excluded from the first debate. the commission is the presidential debate commission and that is private and made up of republicans and democrats with no interest in seeing a third voice on stage. we have filed three lawsuits to get me on stage based on other third-party candidates who have there doesn't seem to be much hope. we filed on the antitrust round, -- browns. -- grounds. something that has not been done before. host: how much do these debates matter and what are you looking for to hearing on wednesday? guest: the debates are tantamount to me having a chance of winning. you can close the lid on winning the election. is winning getting enough votes to cause one of the other two who ends up winning to give more than just lip service to these issues? potentially. you know, steve, i view this as a victory every single day. there are so many people -- i think i speak on behalf of the majority of a
